About me
I am a qualified Landscape Designer and Horticulturalist, with Diplomas in both disciplines. I offer a complete Landscape and Garden design service in Metro Melbourne and in regions close to Melbourne. I have been working in the horticulture and landscape design industry since 2008.
Design Philosophy
A garden should be a place that enhances the quality of life. It can be a place that provides space for reflection, relaxation and quiet enjoyment. My aim is to create a garden or space that best meets your brief and complements your home without imposing a set design style. I try to introduce a central idea or unifying theme for the garden.
Your Design Brief
The success of any landscape or garden design starts with the client brief. Together we will discuss your requirements and garden style preferences. How you wish to use and live in your garden. How the garden should 'feel'. In short your vision for the garden or landscape.
To help you with developing your garden design brief I have provided a downloadable Design Brief and Checklist
in The Design Brief section.
After the briefing I will prepare the design brief for your sign off. Recognizing that design is a fluid process the design brief is not 'locked in stone' but can evolve as the design work develops.
At this stage I will also prepare and submit a landscape and garden design fee proposal for your consideration.
The fee proposal is normally broken down into three staged payments covering concept development and concept plans, planting plans and final documentation.
Concept Development
This will include initial rough sketches of how the garden might be laid out. I will develop a number of hand drawn directions to discuss, together with photos, sketches and other stimuli.
Concept Plan
When we have an agreed direction I will then prepare concept plans including indicative landscape features, surface treatments and initial plant themes. The plans are usually created with professional CAD software.
Planting Plan
Once concepts plans are approved the detailed planting plans and plant schedules are developed. I will include visual references of the proposed plants, plant quantities and pot sizes.
Master Plan
The final stage is the development of the master plan that contains more details such as hard and soft surface treatments, the plant schedule and any further project details and documentation other than final construction drawings.
Implementation
When the plans are signed off I can assist you in obtaining quotes from qualified landscape contractors. For smaller projects and more plant based designs I am happy to quote for installation.
